I checked out the Waldorf=Astoria today and sure, it was certainly nice and fancy, but what sort of lowered the posh-ness for me was the Starbucks kiosk on the left hand side of the entry way. Sort of seemed odd there for some reason...or at least unexpected. I really don't know what I was expecting to be honest, but that was certainly not it. Otherwise, the place so far, has the nicest ladies' restroom I've been to in NYC (and I've been to the W and The Palace so far.) A couple of my friends thought that it would be funny if I started taking pictures of the ladies' rooms and rated them, (apparently there is a site that does this) but I thought better of it. In anycase, what makes the ladies' room nice at the Waldorf is that each lavatory comes with it's own sink. Now that's class. hahaha...I think my hands even felt cleaner after I washed it. ;-)
