This is my city!

I have been back in San Francisco ever since New Years Eve and trying to really take in as much as I can of this beautiful city I call home. I may be Sev-in-the-city and started my blog initially to talk about my experience in New York City, but my first love will always be the city by the bay. In the past couple of days, this beautiful city has welcomed me back with the warmest rays and I've enjoyed every minute of it. It is mid-January after all, so this heat wave is not typical of what you'd usually experience this time of the year, even if you are in California. It's just been beautiful. Today it was in the 70's and so I spent some time with Lulu at Ocean beach. There were so many people and dogs out. I had a nice stroll while Lulu enjoyed herself doing what she does best...herd. It was a great way to spend time with my baby. I will miss her tremendously as she will be staying with my parents while I'm in NY, so I've been trying to spend as much time with her as possible. So to have this beautiful weather to enjoy with her has been a real blessing. I will miss the California Pacific Ocean, but will look forward to spending some time walking the beaches and getting my toes wet in the Atlantic Ocean. In any event, today was indeed a beauty. There were even people wearing bikini's and I think every surfer in San Francisco came out too (which of course I love). I am at heart a Californian and nothing is more Californian than the beach and surfers. But as I walked along the beach today, I was dreading the idea of going back to the winter chill of NYC next Sunday, but I have to stick to the plan. I have come this far, I can't really turn back now, nor do I want to. And as one of my best friend Sherri reminded me today, it isn't usually this nice here. Which is so true! But all this talk about missing San Francisco makes me think about how similar moving and the end of a relationship is. After all, my relationship with SF is ending (for now) and of course all I can think about are the good times. Lord knows I have had many days here where I've felt stagnant, unmotivated and down right bored. Thankfully it took about 30 years to get there, but I'm ready now to try something new, which is what brought me to the decision of taking a risk, move to NYC and just hope and pray it pays off. So like a break up, I just have to remind myself why it didn't work out and have faith that something better is in store for me. And even if nothing better happens in NYC, I will have grown a lot personally and that in itself is priceless. Plus, I'll never know until I try. One of my favorite authors, Maya Angelou says, "Sometimes you have to jump off the pier of safety and into the sea of chance". So here I go...Splash!
